Legal
Terms and conditions.
Last updated: 23 October 2026. These terms cover the Vakanssi plugin, free and Pro, and this website.
The short version
The free plugin is GPL software you can use on any site, forever. Pro is a yearly licence for extra modules, sized by site count. We keep improving Pro, which means its feature list changes over time; if a change ever removes something you paid for mid-term, you can end your subscription and get the unused part refunded. Your hiring data lives on your own server and is yours. Pro is not on sale yet; when it opens you will buy through Freemius and can cancel renewal any time.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Roee Yossef, a sole proprietor registered in Israel under business number 035949940, trading as Savvy ("Vakanssi", "we", "us"). Our postal address is available on request. Contact: hello@vakanssi.com. By installing the plugin, buying a Pro licence, or using this website, you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company or a client, you confirm you are allowed to.
2. The free plugin
The free version of Vakanssi is distributed through WordPress.org under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. That licence, not these terms, governs your rights to run, study, copy, and modify the free plugin. Nothing here narrows what the GPL gives you. It carries no fee, no site limit, and no time limit. It also stays free. Anything the free plugin does today, it will keep doing without payment. Section 6 sets out that commitment in full, including the one situation where a free feature can go away.
3. Pro licences
Pro is not on sale yet. Sections 3 to 6 describe how Pro will work once checkout opens. Until then no Pro licence can be bought, and nothing here is an offer.
Vakanssi Pro adds extra modules on top of the free plugin. A Pro licence is a yearly subscription, sold in three sizes: single site, up to 5 sites, and unlimited sites. Current prices are shown in the pricing section. Prices are shown and charged in US dollars. A "site" is one WordPress installation activated against your licence key. You may move a licence between your own or your clients' sites within your site allowance.
The Pro modules are also released under the GPL, so you may modify them for your own use. Your licence is what entitles you to receive the Pro build, updates, and support; it does not permit reselling or redistributing the Pro build, licence keys, or update access to anyone who has not bought their own licence.
4. Buying, renewing, and cancelling
Checkout is run by Freemius, our merchant of record. Freemius takes your payment, adds any tax that applies to you, issues your invoice, and processes renewals. Their terms and privacy policy apply to the transaction itself.
Licences renew automatically each year at the then-current list price for your tier, unless you cancel first. Any first-year or promotional price applies to that year only, and we say so at the point of purchase. You can cancel renewal at any time from your Freemius account or by writing to us; your licence then runs to the end of the period you have paid for and simply does not renew.
When a licence ends, for any reason, the Pro modules switch off and the plugin keeps working as the free version. Nothing is deleted. Your jobs, candidates, applications, notes, and settings stay exactly where they are, on your server.
5. Refunds
If Pro is not right for you, tell us within 30 days of your first purchase and we will refund it in full, no questions asked. This does not apply to renewals, which you can avoid by cancelling before the renewal date; and it does not apply to the "unused period" refunds described in section 6, which have their own rule. Refunds are processed by Freemius back to your original payment method. If you live somewhere that gives you a stronger statutory right of withdrawal, that right applies instead.
6. Pro changes over time
Pro is a living product. We add modules, improve them, merge them, rename them, move settings around, and sometimes retire ones that few people use. Buying Pro buys the Pro modules as they exist during your subscription, not a promise that any particular module will exist forever or that any specific feature will be added.
To keep that fair, we make two commitments:
- Nothing moves out of free. Anything that is free today stays free. Changes to Pro never take away features from the free plugin.
- If we remove something material mid-term, you can walk away. If, during a period you have already paid for, we retire a Pro module or a significant capability you were using, and there is no reasonable equivalent left in Pro, tell us within 60 days of the change and we will refund the unused part of your subscription, calculated by the day. That refund is the full remedy for the change.
There is one situation where a free feature can go away, and it is not a price change. Very rarely, something free stops being safe or practical to maintain, usually because a service or standard it depends on changes outside our control. If that happens we may retire it for everyone, and we will say so in the release notes. What we will not do is retire something from free and then sell the same capability as part of Pro.
Routine changes are not covered by that refund: fixing bugs, moving or renaming things, changing how a feature works while keeping what it does, adding features, dropping support for old WordPress or PHP versions, or replacing a module with one that does the same job. Where a change is a big one, we will say so in the release notes and give notice where we reasonably can.
7. Support and updates
Free users get community support through the documentation at docs.vakanssi.com and the WordPress.org support forum. Pro licence holders also get email support at hello@vakanssi.com for the life of their licence. We answer during business hours, Monday to Friday, and aim to reply within two business days. The forum is public, so anything involving personal data, your licence key or your site credentials belongs in email rather than a forum thread. Support means helping you use Vakanssi as designed; it does not include custom development, fixing conflicts caused by other plugins or themes, or working inside your hosting account. Updates are delivered through WordPress for as long as your licence is active.
8. Your data and your responsibilities
Vakanssi runs on your own WordPress site. You are the controller of your hiring data: candidates, applications, CVs, notes, and everything else the plugin manages. None of it passes through us. If you buy Pro, Freemius receives only what it needs to license the software (your account details, the site URL, and, if you opt in, anonymous usage data). You are responsible for using Vakanssi lawfully: getting whatever consent your jurisdiction requires from candidates, honouring their data rights, keeping your site secure and backed up, and following employment and anti-discrimination law where you hire. The plugin gives you tools for consent, export, erasure, and retention; using them correctly is up to you.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use Vakanssi to break the law, to collect data you have no right to collect, or to attack, probe, or overload our services or Freemius's. Do not share licence keys outside your own site allowance, and do not use the Pro build to sell a competing hosted service without our written agreement. We may suspend a licence that is being used this way, after trying to reach you first where that is practical.
10. What we promise, and what we do not
We build Vakanssi carefully and support it seriously, and we stand behind the refund terms above. Beyond that, the plugin is provided "as is". We do not promise it will be error-free, that it will suit every hosting setup, theme, or plugin combination, or that it will meet any particular legal requirement of yours. This is a self-hosted tool: how it runs depends on your server, and how you use it depends on you.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or the plugin, in any twelve-month period, is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost hires, or lost data, though we do not exclude liability where the law says we cannot, such as for death, personal injury, fraud, or gross negligence. Consumers keep every right their local law gives them regardless of this section.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change would materially reduce your rights as a current Pro subscriber, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the plugin before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then. Otherwise, changes apply from the date at the top of this page and to renewals from then on. The current version always lives at vakanssi.com/terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, without limiting any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
