Is the free version really free?
Yes — and it's not a trial. Jobs, the careers page, applications, the pipeline board, notes, interview logging, templated email, and the GDPR tooling are all free, with no time limits and no candidate caps. Pro adds power tools on top; nothing ever moves out of free.
How is this different from a job-board plugin?
Job-board plugins stop at the listing — applications land in your email inbox and the tracking happens in a spreadsheet. Vakanssi is a full applicant tracking system: every application flows into a pipeline board in wp-admin, with candidate profiles, team notes, interview logging, templated email, and GDPR tooling built in.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes — and there are no per-seat fees, free or Pro. Vakanssi ships Recruiter, Hiring Manager, and HR roles with capability-based access; grant them to as many users as you need. If each recruiter should see only their own candidates, Pro adds assignment scoping.
Do candidates apply on my site, or get redirected?
On your site, start to finish. The listings, application form, and CV upload all run on your own domain and pick up your theme's styling — no iframes, no third-party careers portal. Every listing also ships valid Google-for-Jobs structured data, so openings surface in Google's job search.
Where does candidate data live?
On your server, full stop. Applications live in your WordPress database and CVs are stored outside the public web root, so no web server can serve them directly. Nothing is sent to a third-party ATS cloud, and WordPress's data export and erase tools cover candidates end to end.
How does the Pro license work?
Pro is licensed per site and billed yearly. You install the Pro version of the plugin and every Pro module lights up in the same admin you already use — your jobs, candidates, and settings carry over untouched. You can cancel the renewal anytime.
Am I locked in?
No. Export applications to CSV or any single application to print-ready PDF whenever you like, and WordPress's data export tools cover candidates end to end. Even uninstalling keeps your hiring data in your database unless you explicitly turn on "Delete all data on uninstall" first.
